TAKE AN ONLINE COURSE, ON US

The University of Washington was one of the early innovators in online education, delivering a wide variety of courses and programs over the Internet since 2001. Part of that legacy of leadership includes offering a selection of online courses free of charge to anyone who wants to expand their world through higher education.
The UW currently provides free online courses through a number of services, including popular online learning platforms such as Coursera, edX and the Canvas Network. Many of these courses are based on classes taught in UW certificate and degree programs, both online and in person.
The edX online learning site features free courses from some of the top educational institutions in the world, including Harvard, MIT and the University of Washington. Take classes from UW professors and enjoy access to state-of-the-art content and tools. See the UWashingtonX page for a list of course offerings.
Coursera is an online education platform that the UW and other higher education institutions use to offer free college courses that anyone can take. Some of these courses start on a set date and run for a specific length of time, while others are available on demand and can be taken anytime.
The UW has partnered with Canvas Network to feature a selection of online courses that are open to everyone. Classes are taught by expert UW faculty and instructors using the latest online learning technology.
There are no courses currently available. Check back to learn about future offerings.
