Online Courses

Take advantage of the rigorous and engaging study for which the University of Oxford is famous - from anywhere in the world.
view our list of online courses
The majority of online courses are short courses of 10 weeks' duration, and taught at the level of the first year of undergraduate study. There are over 90 of these online short courses to choose from, across a range of disciplines. Class sizes are capped at a maximum of 32 students (20 for creative writing) to maximise students' contact with the tutor and with each other. Courses are structured as weekly online meetings; interaction with the course tutor and other students takes place in a virtual learning environment.
We also offer a range of modular online courses, mainly in the health sciences and telecommunications. These are aimed at those who wish to update professional skills; in many cases these courses can be taken as part of a longer award programme.

Transfer your course credit toward an Oxford Award.

Credit earned on our online short courses is transferable towards our Certificate of Higher Education.
The Certificate of Higher Education is a part-time Oxford award programme equivalent to the first year of study at university level. Students select a main subject area to study, and combine this with study across related subjects. Credit received from our weekly classes, short online courses and the Oxford University Summer School for Adults may be transferred toward the award. Learn more: https://www.conted.ox.ac.uk/certhe

All the Department's Online Short Courses are developed by our Technology-Assisted Lifelong Learning (TALL) unit. To learn more, please see the TALL website.
